  • COCKTAIL MAKING

    0

BALCONYTV.COM 27/10/2007 PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT A cocktail is a style of mixed drink. However, not all mixed drinks are cocktails. A cocktail usually contains one or more types of liquor and flavorings and one or more liqueurs, fruit juices, sauces, honey, milk, cream or spices, etc. The cocktail became popular with Prohibition in the United States. During Prohibition the art of mixing drinks became more and more important to mask the taste of bootlegged alcohol. The bartenders at a speakeasy would mix it with other ingredients, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. After the repeal of Prohibition, the skills developed in illegal bars became widespread and heralded the golden era of the cocktail, the 1930s. One of the oldest known cocktails, the Cognac-based Sazerac, dates from 1850s New Orleans, as many as 70 years prior to Prohibition. Until the 1970s, cocktails were made predominantly with gin, whiskey or rum, and less commonly vodka. From the 1970s on, the popularity of vodka increased dramatically, and by the 1980s it was the predominant base for mixed drinks. Many cocktails traditionally made with gin, such as the gimlet, or the martini, may now be served by default with vodka. www.drinkonline.eu en.wikipedia.org Tune in again tomorrow!!!

  • “The House of Bols” Cocktail making in Amsterdam

    0

This was taken at the “House of Bols” museum and bar just opposite the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. For 10€ you get a tour of the museum (including its very interesting scent room), a custom cocktail, a genevers (gin) cocktail and five flavour shots. If you don’t drink, like myself, they’ll also make you up a virgin cocktail. The staff were very friendly and after you’ve gone through the musuem and its drinks (considering a cocktail alone will set you back 7-12€ in A’dam, Paris or Brussels, it’s a good price), there’s a half-decent gift-shop up-top.

  • New Year: *Cocktail Party* Nail Art Design

    0

I really had no choice this time but to leave parts out :/ sadly my editing program/stupid computer make some kind of agreement to do everything they could to stop me from editing this video -.- it litterally crashed on me every time I added a tiny itty bitty thing! so I had to delete a few subtitles, pictures and clips to be able to save it as a huge video file – then convert that video file into a different format – so please bare with me! :) I was requested to do a cocktail design – believe it was from a bartender? ^^ I made it a couple of months ago, was planning to upload it closer to new year but simply couldn’t wait. The last part of the video explained: Apply base coat and a nude polish, make a coloured french tip followed by a black tip slightly further to the edge – apply a layer of top coat and peel the drinks off the plastic bag – place them on the nails and make sure they stick. I then decorated with rhinestones and sparkly top coat ^^ Seal with top coat and you’re done! ^^ My website: www.sugarcharmshop.com My blog www.sugarcharms.blogspot.com Music provided by Jason Shaw @ audionautix.com Disclaimer: The migi nail art pens were given to me for free by the company – I am not getting paid to make this video
